Liturgy & the Mass
A church without a regular Sunday Mass
When several parishes share one pastor (a pastorate), or several churches are merged into one parish, some churches keep weddings, funerals, and prayer but no longer have a regular Sunday Mass. Vianney can say so, so the public Mass-intention page never offers a Sunday that isn't there.
Mark a whole parish
- 1. Go to Settings → Parish and find the Regular Sunday Mass card (pastor or admin).
- 2. Tick This parish has no regular Sunday Mass.
- 3. Add an optional note parishioners will see (for example, "Open for weddings, funerals, and prayer").
- 4. Click Save Sunday-Mass status. The public request page stops offering Sunday times and shows your note; weekday Masses, weddings, and funerals are unaffected.
Mark a single church (merged parish)
- If the parish uses worship sites, open Settings → Sites, and on the church use Sunday Mass… to set it to *no regular Sunday Mass*. Only that church's Sunday slots are affected.
Good to know
- The default is a normal Sunday schedule — nothing changes until you set this.
- This never touches weekday intentions, weddings, or funerals; it only removes the Sunday-obligation offer.
- What is hidden are the Sunday slots that come from your standard Mass schedule in Settings. If you mark one church (Settings → Sites) and then publish a ministry schedule with a Sunday Mass there, that Mass is shown and can be requested — a deliberate publication is taken at its word.
- One thing to watch. If you mark the whole parish as having no regular Sunday Mass, Vianney turns away every Sunday intention request, including one at a Mass a published schedule lists. The Mass still appears on the public page, but the request is refused. If you have a Sunday Mass again, untick the parish setting rather than relying on the schedule to speak for it.
- To turn it back on, untick the box (or set the site back) and save.
