Sacrament prep and the register
A class preparing for a sacrament gets a prep track: a checklist (parent meeting, retreat, interview…) tracked per child, with a target date for the Mass.
The grid
Open the class's Preparation tab. One tap marks an item done; the arrow offers waive (a note is required — say why) and not applicable. The roster shows each child's progress.
Recording — propose, then verify
When the sacrament has been celebrated, the Record… button creates proposed register entries — it never writes the sacramental register directly:
- 1. On the class's Preparation tab, click Record…, tick who actually received, and name the celebrant.
- 2. Someone with recording authority (the "Record register entries" permission) opens Register proposals.
- 3. They check each entry against the bound book, type the volume and page they are reading from, and confirm — or reject with a note.
The bound register remains the only authoritative record.
First Reconciliation is different
The parish plans First Reconciliation logistics — the parent meeting, the workshop, the service date. But the parish keeps no record of who has gone to confession, and this screen cannot hold one: there is no per-child checkbox, no record button, and nothing that could be smuggled in through a template. That protection is permanent and enforced by the software itself.
