Tracking annulment cases
Vianney keeps a simple registry of annulment (declaration of nullity) cases so you can follow each through the tribunal and know when a person is free to marry.
Track a case
- 1. In Matrimony → Annulments, open a case for the petitioner (a parishioner record or a typed name).
- 2. Move it through its status — gathering, submitted, tribunal review, first instance, ratified, decided — and note the tribunal case number.
- 3. Optionally link it to a couple.
How it protects the couple
If an annulment is linked to a couple or either person and is not yet decided affirmatively, Vianney will not let a wedding date be set — a safeguard against scheduling before the prior bond is resolved.
Tips
- Keep statuses current; This is what releases the block on scheduling once a case concludes.
- The registry tracks the process, not the tribunal's reasoning — keep sensitive detail to the tribunal.
