Issuing a baptism certificate
Once a baptism is recorded, Vianney can produce a certificate — to print, save, or send — and can handle certificate requests from other parishes.
Issue a certificate
- 1. Open a recorded baptism case and click Issue certificate.
- 2. Review the certificate fields (child, date, parents, godparents, place).
- 3. Print it (your browser prints to paper or PDF), Save to register, or Mark issued.
- 4. To email it, use Send certificate, enter the recipient, confirm, and the certificate emails immediately — no queue.
Requests from other parishes
A parish needing a certificate can submit a request, which appears under Cert requests. Open it and Vianney offers a Predicted person match from your roster — the top candidate, never auto-confirmed. Click Accept match to confirm that person, or Change… to search the roster for someone else. Then Prepare certificate, and finally Mark fulfilled (or Decline with a reason).
Starting a request yourself
Not every certificate request arrives through the public form — a family may call or write, or Formation's sacrament-prep cross-check may flag someone whose baptism was recorded at another parish. On the Cert requests screen, click + New request to start one yourself: fill in what you know about the subject and the parish you believe holds the record, and it joins the same queue as a public request, ready to fulfill or decline.
Tips
- Identity is matched by a human — you confirm the person before preparing anything.
- Keep register details accurate; the certificate reads from the recorded entry (see Recording a baptism).
