Baptisms
Recording a baptism
A baptism case carries the preparation, the celebration, and finally the entry in the register. Vianney walks it stage by stage and protects the register from silent edits.
From inquiry to register
- 1. In Baptism, click New baptism and enter the child's name and date of birth; Create.
- 2. Through the stages — inquiry → scheduled → prepared → celebrated → recorded — fill in parents, sponsors (godparents), and the date and time.
- 3. When the baptism has taken place, click Confirm celebrated and record the actual date, the minister, and the place. Anyone with the Edit baptisms permission may do this — Father, the administrator, or the office — and Vianney records who confirmed it and when.
- 4. Click Record in register. Vianney asks you to confirm; the case moves to Recorded and the entry is written with your annotation.
Why the confirm step
Anything that touches the sacramental register is proposed and then confirmed with a note — never changed quietly. This keeps the register trustworthy. Recording in the register requires the case to already be at Celebrated — Vianney will not let a case skip ahead to a register entry before the baptism has actually taken place.
Tips
- Record the register volume, page, and number so the digital entry points to the physical book, and you can upload a scan of the page.
- Once recorded, you can issue a certificate.
