Getting started
Resetting a staff password
This is for staff accounts that sign in with a parish password (not Google). Google accounts are managed by Google — there is no parish password to reset.
If you are the staff member
- 1. On the sign-in page, use the Forgot password? link (or ask the office to send you a fresh link).
- 2. Open the emailed set-password link and choose a new password (at least 8 characters).
- 3. The link works once and expires after 2 hours. If it has expired, or you have already used it, ask the office for a new one. Setting a new password also invalidates any other reset link you had outstanding.
If you are the office resetting someone else
- 1. Go to Settings → Staff & Teams and open the staff member.
- 2. Issue a new set-password invite — it emails them a fresh link immediately and is recorded in the audit trail.
- 3. The reset also signs them out immediately — any session of theirs already open (web or the phone app) stops working right then, not just their old password.
- 4. They click the emailed link and choose a new password, then sign in fresh with it.
Tips
- For security, the sign-in page gives the same generic message whether or not an email exists — so a wrong email never reveals a real account.
- Switching a person to Google sign-in removes the password burden entirely; many parishes prefer it. See Signing in to Vianney.
