The Story: one feed of a family's life with the parish
Open any person (or household) and you'll find the Story — a single, dated feed of everything the parish has recorded between you and them: sacraments, Mass intentions, letters sent, replies received, ministry service, funerals, and pastoral care.
It reads like memory: what happened, and when.
What you see depends on your role
The Story respects the same confidentiality the rest of Vianney does. Pastoral care, prayer requests, Insights, and giving are each only shown to staff entitled to see them (giving specifically follows the Stewardship permission; a private insight shows only to its author and to the pastor). If you aren't entitled, those items simply don't appear for you — there's no placeholder and no hint they exist. This is by design: some care is between a family and their priest, and giving is between a household and the office.
An insight appears here as a dated line — *"Insight added"*, with who wrote it. The words themselves stay behind the Insights section on the person's profile; the Story tells you that a pastoral note exists, never what it says.
What feeds it
Alongside sacraments, intentions, letters, and pastoral care, the Story also picks up a household's giving (for staff who can see it) and, if your parish uses the School module, school moments like an admissions-stage change or enrollment. A household's electronic gift now registers as a quiet, routine touch too — the same weight as an envelope return, and shown just as small.
What never enters the Story
Anything confession-adjacent is never recorded here, and never reaches any AI feature. Fundraising amounts stay in Stewardship, not here.
Tips
- The Story is assembled fresh each time you open it — there's no second copy to fall out of date.
- Weak, routine items (a bulk newsletter delivery) render small so the meaningful moments stand out.
