Care & the sick
Keeping a sick list
The sick list is the parish's living record of who is ill or in need, so visits, calls, and prayers do not depend on memory.
Add someone
- 1. Open Care → Sick list and click the Add to the sick list line at the top — it folds open. Search the directory, or type a name for someone not on file.
- 2. Set the location (home, hospital, hospice, care facility) and urgency (normal or urgent), and add a short note of what you know.
- 3. Click Add to the list. The entry shows how long the person has been on the list, and the Sick list tab keeps a count beside its name — with anyone urgent called out in red, so a hard case is never buried.
Close it gently
When the situation changes, resolve the entry with an outcome (recovered, moved, deceased, other). Resolved entries are tucked away but kept; toggle Show resolved to see them.
Tips
- If you resolve with "deceased," Vianney offers to open a funeral case — it suggests, you decide.
- Many sick-list entries start in Shepherd Notes with one click.
- Names typed for non-parishioners are kept exactly as entered — identity is never invented.
